Scroungers For Smallmouth Bass

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

This rig is my bread and butter out there but, is certainly not limited to what I describe. I know anglers that use the 1/8 oz. Scrounger with a variety of trailers and do just as well. Many are catching walleyes and Stripers on this same or similar rig. Using the scrounger rig for smallmouth bass boils down to finding what works for you and what you are comfortable with. Some anglers may prefer the 1/8 oz. Scrounger with a grub or helgramite for creek smallmouth while someone else may prefer the 1/4 oz. with a bigger fluke for a trailer to get a faster fall through the water colulm. Either way, the Scrounger jig can and will produce plenty of smallmouth if you are looking for something different and versitile.

Scrounger Jigs Catch Pike!

It was just a few days ago that Gord Pyzer field editor for In-Fisherman magazine sent in a few photos of a monster Pike he caught while using a Scrounger jig coupled with a big swimbait. This monster was caught while he was at the Kesagami Lake Lodge in the Hudson Bay Lowlands. Way to go Gord, Great Fish!

Here a few pictures of that monster fish caught with a Scrounger Jig by Gord Pyser.

The Scrounger Vibration, Wiggle & Wooble

The Scrounger jig develops quite allot of vibration with its unique bill. Each Scrounger design allows for use under different applications with a variety of trailers. The 1/4oz. for instance, is available with a short, medium and long bill and each can be used for different things. Do you want allot of wobble with your worm trailer, use the long bill. If you’re after a tight wiggle with a swimbait, the short bill will work just fine. Maybe you want something right in the middle to use with a grub or minnow type bait, we have the medium bill for that. Which ever Scrounger you decide to try, with each wobble or wiggle of the bait, a vibration is produced which adds one more thing for fish to react to. This one bait can be used where you would normally throw a spinner bait, chatter bait or fluke but, can also be jigged or bounced off the bottom like a jig and still produce a variation with every movement forward.
